Seems kinda racist but the food is good 💯we sat at the bar and didn't get waited on but everyone else who sat after us was greeted with drinks and all . That's ok tho the Gurl who did come and tend to us got a very good TIP 👌🏾
I ordered the fish platter. It came with tilapia which I wasn't expecting. It was good though. The fries didn't seem cooked all the way and didn't have any seasoning. The coleslaw was bland also. The Dr pepper didn't taste good. We were done eating and waited 25 minutes for our check. It definitely was not a place I'm dying to go back to.
For this place to be named 'The Gumbo Diner', the gumbo wasn't as good as I had anticipated it to be. When the waitress asked 'how was everything?' I responded saying 'it was bland and watery.' Her response to that was 'that's why we give you hot sauce, so you can spice it up how you want.' Ummm, that has nothing to do with it being bland.
This was such a strange experience. Hardly anyone was in there when we dined on Saturday. People kept coming in but it looked like they all either worked there or just hung out there. One couple came in and after being seated, was virtually ignored while people were sitting around or folding napkins. They finally left without ordering. This is the worst place to work at and the food takes almost 45mins to get to the guest. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody who wanna work or eat. Worst choice possible
The food looks good...i think the gumbo is their specialty...i ordered the fish tacos and they were good...nothing to wright home about...i opted for green beans as a side and they were very salty. My boyfriend ordered chicken and waffles and he said although they were good, they were not satisfying
The gumbo was okay ...more soupy than the stuffs they put on the gumbo. Nothing special.
Gumbo was good, but not great. We ate all week at all the local spots and had great food for around 35 to 45 per meal. Three bowls of gumbo and an order of 3 beignets and tea. $60 +$10 tip = $70. Most expensive meal we had all week and not the best.
